MASTERTON MEETING.

A GOOD DAY'S SPORT. SEVERAL EXCITING FINISHES. VICTORY FOR VERTIGERN. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 MASTERTON, Thursday. The Masterton Racing Club'a meeting was held to-day in ideal weather, before a good attendance. The racing was excellent. For interference in the Telephone Hack Handicap, A. Hobson, rider of Kilniezzo, was suspended for two months. In the High-weight Handicap, No Favours and Hokioi disputed favouritism. Gordon Swift showed tho way down the back from Paraki, Hokioi, Killocra, Lady Passenger and Sir Moment, and still led crossing the top. Lady Passenger challenged Gordon Swift in the straight, where Killocra retired beaten, and Asleep and Sir Moment joined in. Gordon Swift won by half a length from Asleep. Sir Moment, on the inside,, fished up and was a head away, third, a head in front of Lady Passenger. No Favours, Vexatious and Hokioi were next. In the Trial Stakes, Mandarine and Piperenzo carried nearly half of the total investments. Lhasa took chargo at the end of a, furlong from (Joiarina, Mirelation ana Mandarine. However, Manctanno como through on tho inside at the turn and won easily by a length from Colarina. Eioquent was two lengths away, third, and then came Piperenzo, Merry Karto and. Our Bob. The Telephone Hack Handicap saw Addlepate a decided favourite, with Raukura, Kilniezzo and the Hank Draft-Rowley bracket evenly backed. Carrigallon soon took charge trom Lank Draft, Kua&ura and Kilniezzo. Carrigallon led round to the turn, well clear of Kuakura, who was fol. lowed by Bank Draft. Hymgreat and KUmezzo. Carrigallon was beaten a furlong from homo, where Ruakura took the leati. Kilniezzo and Addlepate then challenged, and in a good finish Ruakura lasted long enough to beat Kilniezzo by a head, with Addlepate half a length away, third. Crrigallon was fourth, and Hymgreat and Molto next. In the Flying Handicap, First Acre was a very hot favourite, anything else being at a good price. Lady Ideal led across the top from Mireusonta, with Fjjcst Aero and Standard next, and Royal Jmvorce and Lady 'Fingers handy. Lady Ideal, Mireusonta, First Acre and Standard were amost in line a furlong from home, with Standard doing best. First Ace hung on to Standard, but tho other pair weakened. Royal Divorce then came with a great run on the outside. Royal. Divorce, Standard and First Aero going over the lino together. Royal Divorce and Standard were awarded a dead heat, with First a short head away, third,, Lady Ideal wan fourth, arid Polyphemus and Riverna next. It was a great finish and only the judge could decide. \ In ±he Autumn Handicap. Hynanna was a hot fevourite. with Vertigern second choico. From a walking-in start Vertigern led out of tho straight from Vesperus, Beaumont,, Hynatina and Opa. No Favours rushed up into the lead six furlongs from home, and at the turn was well clear of Vertigern, who led Beaumont and Vesperus, with Opa next. Hynanfta moved up half a milo from homo, but at tho turn he was last again. Vertigern ran past No Favours ,a , furlong from home and Beaumont joined in while Hynanna was making his effort. Vertigern went on and won by a length from Beaumont, who beat No Favours and Hynanna by two lengths, this pair being on | terms. Vesperus and Opa were next. In the Juvenile Handicap. Arrow Lad sind Vigilance were tho popular selections, but there was a fair measure of support for , Keddar and Chips. From a straggling start Teri, Thurnbelle Chips and Grey Mist began best. Chips dashed into the as they turned for home, with Thurnbelle, Ten, Grey Mist and Arrow Lad following. Arrow Lad. hard ridden, ran past Chips, and won |by two lengths. King Midas, finishing on, was 'third, fou; lengths behind Chips. Ten was fourth, and Keddar. Historic and Grey Mist next. . , , In the Stewards' Handicap, in which there were five starters, only Black Mint arid Merry Damon were backed. Willow Wai went out from Tresham and Merry Damon, with Black Mint last Bonhomme and Tresham followed Willow Wai across the top, but Merry Damon and Black Mint closed on the leaders at the turn, where Willow Wai. Bonhomme. Merry Damon and Black Mint were in line. Merry Damon shot out at tho distance and won well by a length and a-half from Tresham, who beat Willow Wai by a similar margin. BlacK Mint was fourth .. , „ In the Dash Handicap, Henna waited on Kiimezzo and Addelpate to the turn. then ran to the front and won comfortably by a length and a-half from who beat Hymestrason by a length.
