POWER FOR WAITEMATA.
SWITCHING ON THE CURRENT. CEREMONY NEXT WEDNESDAY. The official ceremony of turning on the hydro-electrical supply from the Government's Horahora system to the Waitemata Power Board's lines has been fixed for Wednesday next at 2.30 p.m. The function will take place at the Government's Takapuna sub-station, at the corner of Nortbcote and Sunnybrae Roads. The power Will be switched on by the Minister of Public Works, the' Hon. K. S. Williams, and, besides ' the'. Minister, addresseswill be given by the chairman'of the Waitemata Power Board, Mr. J. W. Hay den, a,rid the chairman of the Auckland Power Board, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth. The residents within tho power district are invited to the function, and special invitations are being extended to members of the Legislature and the Mayors, chairmen/ and members of tho local bodies within the district. Local" functions to commemorate the advent of electricity in their districts are also contemplated by some of the municipal bodies in the power area. Tho Helensville Town Board has arranged a ceremony next Wednesday, and the Birkenhead Borough Council has practically fixed upon the following evening for a similar ceremony.
