MOTORISTS PROSECUTED

OFFENCES AGAINST BY-LAWS. WEEKLY BATCH OF CASES. DANGEROUS DRIVING CHARGES. The usual weekly prosecutions against motorists who have infringed the by-laws i, instituted by the police and the traffic ; department were dealt with yesterday, j Mr, F. K. Hunt, S.M., took the police j piosecutions by Sergeant Calwell, and Mr. j W. R. jfcKean, S.M., heard the cases] brought forward by Mr. G. R. Hogan, ] chief traffic inspector. A fine of £;5 and costs was imposed on : Frank Elliott for dangerous driving. Edward J. Power, Harold Warner, Percy William Marsicks, Leslie H. Clark, Godfrey Otway and Henry Thomas Wathew, were each fined £3 and costs on similar charges, John Buckley was fined £2 10s and costs, Keith Bryson and Ernest Ross Massey, £2 and costs, Kenneth R Grant, John E. Harris and William Hugh Dobbie, £1 10s and costs, and Thomas Taylor, Alexander Davie and Thomas Stewart, £1 and costs. Negligent driving cost Leslie Francis Arthur and Walter Charles ; Elliott £1 and costs each. For driving his car on a footpath, Harvey Turner was fined 5s and costs. For leaving their cars unattended, Victor L. Baker, John F. Newsome, Alan B. Nicholson, William H. Wharf, Harry Deverell, Hillary Nutt, Lyulph T. Tollemache, Lancelot Holmes Dick, Thomas Alexander Lovie, William James Dick. Leo Miles, Thomas H. Daly, Robert Allen, Alfred E„ Macartney, Osyth Vercoe Augwin, Francis C. Cunningham and William Walker were fined 10s and costs. A car left unattended near a fire cost Donald Beresford Maxey 10s and costs. Passing on the wrong side of a stationary tramcar resulted in a fine of £1 and costs being imposed on Albert Barker and for passing stationary tramcars, Henry Perkins was fined £2 and costs, Peter Charles Allan, Gieorge Cleal and Farrington E. Power, £1 and costs, while William McAr+hur was fined 10s and costs. Cleal was also fined 10s and costs each on charges of having -no driver's, licence and of using a motor-car without an endorsed certificate, and Power was convicted 'and discharged for using a car without an endorsed certificate. Perkins wa;s also fined £1 for having no driver's licence. Failure to have their vehicles properly lighted cost Albert B. Congdon, and Edward John Clayton £1 and costs, and Hubert Frank Beagles, Bert Humphries, David A. Wait? and James Green, 10s and' costs. Clayton ■ was fined an additional £1 and costs for permitting a motor-car to be used without an endorsed certificate. Failure to produce their drivers' licences resulted in Thomas J. Perkinson. and Thomas J. Stanaway being fined £1 and costs, and Cyril William Williams 10s and costs. For using an unlicensed motor-bus, Alfred Henry Smith was fined £1 and costs and a similar amount for not having the assigned number affixed. Fines of £1 and costs were imposed on John William Bigate, John Burns, Limited and J. P. Gray for failure to notify change of ownership of vehicles. Failure to obey the directions of traffic officers resulted in Margaret Adelaide Thompson, Edward Grey and Alfred George Little being fined £1 and costs each,' and for turning to the right in Queen Street, Lewis Henry Ott was fined 10.'! and costs, 'William Keenan was fined 10s and costs for pillion riding. NEGLIGENT DRIVING. TE AWAMUTU PROSECUTION. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] TE AWAMUTU, Wednesday. For driving on the wrong side of the road Frederick Rickard was fined £1 when he appeared in the Court at Te Awamutu to-day. Ho was also fined £5 for negligent driving and his motor driver's licence was endorsed. He had twice previously been convicted for offences againsl tho by-laws. The prosecution arose out of a collision at a street intersection.
