VALEDICTORY FUNCTION.
GRAMMAR SCHOOL MASTERS. Presentations were made yesterday by the headiuatiter of the Auckland Gramma'r School, Mr. J. Drummond, on behalf of himself and tho members of the staff to three of their colleagues who are severing their connection with the school after many years' scryice—Mr. N, A. Winter, who is retiring "on superannuation, Mr. A. W. Short, who has been appointed first assistant of the new Takapuna Grammar School, and Mr. A. K. Ryder] who has been chosen for the headmaster' ship of the Rotorua High School. Mr. Drummond said lie felt keen regret at parting with such capable members of bis staff. They would be a distinct loss to the school. He thanked them for their loyal service and conveyed to them the hearty good wishes both of himself and of their colleagues for their future success and happiness.
