SCHOOL HOMEWORK.
ITS VALUE IN TRAINING. "During the year renewed attention has been called - in the press to that perennial subject of debate—homework," said Mr. F. W. Gamble, headmaster of the Mount Albert Grammar. School, at the prizegiving ceremony last evening. "While the advocates of 'no homework' have been busy, it is noticeable that so far the 'homework' party—probably because they feel themselves securely entrenched behind established custom —have remained silent. This school is one of the number in which home preparation is regarded a:; a necessary supplement to classwork, and I make no apology for saying that it exists here, not out of consideration for custom, but for its worth as a part of boys' training."
