MYSTERY STILL UNSOLVED. LETTER SENT TO HUSBAND. HER INTENTION TO DISAPPEAR. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received 9 p.m.) Sun. LONDON, Dec. 12. In response to an appeal made by the chief constable 2000 people, some bringing bloodhounds and other dogs, joined in a search on Surrey Downs for Sirs. Agatha Christie, the novelist, who has mysteriously disappeared. The search was carried on throughout the day, but rio cluo was discovered. The police have obtained a copy of a letter which Mrs. Christie wrote to her husband, a letter which it was previously reported had been destroyed. They consider it showed that it was Mrs. Christie's intention to disappear • without returning. The police are also in possession of a note which Mrs. Christie wrote to her secretary. They have sealed this note and have undeftaken not to reopen it unless Mrs. Chrstie is dead. The Daily Slail says this letter, which is described as the letter of a brokenhearted woman, explains at length the reasons for Mrs. Christie's disappearance. The woman's husband, Colonel Christie, denies that the letter can be thus described, although lie says it was written •when his wife was highly nervous. It made no allegations against anyone. Another mystery similar to that concerning the disappeax-ance of Mrs. Christie has been brought to Scotland Yard for solution. Relatives have asked the police to find Una Crowe, aged 20, a daughter of the late Sir Eyre Crowe. She has disappeared from her home at Chelsea and no trace of-her has been found.

Sir Eyre Crowe was a distinguished official of the Foreign Office. He was first Assistant Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and for some years Permanent Under-Secretary. He passed all his life in the service of the Foreign Office at Home and abroad.
