MAUKU CLUB'S MEETING.

The secretary of the Mauku Athletic Club reports that there is _ a record number of entries for the athletic sports to be held at Patumahoe on New Year's Day. The time for receiving entries for the woodchopping events has been extended to give competitors from the King Country time to return their nomination papers. The railway authorities have advised that the special train to the Patumahoe snorts ground on New Year's Day will ieave Auckland at 8.30 a.m., and return leaving Patumahoe at 5 p.m. The train will stop at intermediate stations to pick up passengers.
A contest will be held between representative runners from Mauku, Waiau Pa. Karaka, Patumahoe. Paerata. Puni, Pukekohe and Glenbrook schools for the Ivan Motion championship shield.
