FLEET IN EAR EAST.

ADEQUACY GONFIRMED. ADMIRALTY ON THE ALERT. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Dec. 3. In the course of a speech at Bromley on the Chinese situation, the First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. W. C. Bridgeman, said: "We possess a most able Commander-in-Chief in China, He has cabled stating that he has sufficient strength available to protect life, which, he says, is all that is required of him. "That is true in my opinion, but we have replied saying that if the Admiral considers his force to be insufficient we will do our best to send him reinforcements."
