The Hawke Cup match between Taranaki and Wanganui was continued in fine weather to-day, before a large attendance. At the end of the day's play everything favoured taking the cup, but Wanganui still has a fighting chance. The visitors, who made 188 in the first innings, scored 178 in the second (Naismith 54, Grayson 17, Bottrill 17, Cole 33, Petty 10). For Wanganui Bernau took two wickets for 49 runs, Holland four for 49, Williams two for 27, and Treadwell one for 2. Wanganui's first innings yielded 63 (On--13, Bernau 21, Treadwell 10. In a crioket match at Dunedin yesterday Carisbrook, continuing their first innings stgainst Grange, made 230 runs for nine wickets declared (Blunt 102). Grange, who made 83 in their first innings, had lost 160 for six at the call of time (Alloo 79 not out). A two-point win for Carisbrook. The Dunedin-Albion match was drawn. Albion, in their first innings, made 183. Dunedin in their first made 55 and in their fiecond 198 for six wickets (McGregor 60, Cavanagh 27. Torrance 25). GYMNASTIC CONTESTS. KING'S COLLEGE EVENTS. ' EXCELLENT PERFORMANCES. The annual gymnastic competitions of King's College were held on Friday and Saturday evenings. There was a good attendance of parents and friends. The display was exceptionally fine and the audience frequently displayed great enthusiasm. Captain Potter, of Otahuhu, ''who acted 5.9 judge, said he had never seen better junior work. Canon Archdall, the now headmaster, said he was sure the display could not be excelled at any school in Australia. The work on the rings and the parallel bars was especially good. R. Hargrave and A. MacDiarmid both received unstinted applause for performing grand. circles on the parallel bars', an . exceptionally difficult feat, particularly for juniors. MacDiarmid blko gave an outstanding display on .the rings. The senior cup was won by R. B. Moorhouse with 184£ points, .T, Farrell being second with 178. and C. R. Palmer third with 153}. The junior cup went to Hargrave with 186} points, MacDiarmid being second with 171. and G H. Millington third with 150}. Last year the junior cup waa won by MacDiarmid with Hargrave second. GOLF. MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUB. The medal handicap and third round of the eclectic handicap attracted a good entry of members of" the Maungakiekie Golf Club at the One Tree Hill links on Saturday.
