PIONEER MISSIONARIES.
GREAT WORK IN NORTH. PROPOSAL FOR MEMORIAL. [by TELEGRAPH, —OWN "ORRESPONBENT. ] KAITAIA, Wednesday. Speaking at the Anglican Church bazaar at Kaitaia, Mr. Allen Bell, M.P., said that it was impossible to overestimate the work done by the Church in the development of the district and among the natives, who wero now proud to belong to the British Empire. He made a stirring appeal for tho establishment of a fund with which to erect a suitable memorial to the missionary pioneers who, taking their lives in their hands, came to Kaitaia 94 years ago. ]\lr. Bell suggested that the fund should bo £2OOO, and, as one who was a great admirer of those splendid men and women, he would be pleased to head tho list with £2OO.
