THE SUPPLY OF WHEAT.

attitude of the growers. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday. At a meeting of the North Canterbury Farmers' Union to-day a letter was received from the Culverden branch concerning the marketing of wheat and urging that the vote of wheat growers should be taken on the advisability of asking the Government to fix a price for a period of three years. The executive was stated to have adopted a policy of procrastination, and the Culverden wheaterowers appealed for unitod action and assistance. It was explained that at recent conferences there had been a hesitancy to do anything as an organisation and it was thought desirable to postpone the matter until December. Several speakers thought that the Government's decision to refrain from taking action in the matter of prico fixing should be accepted as final and the union should do the best it could in other directions. A higher duty on Australian floor was suggested.
