THE CARRIAGE OF PIGS. RETALIATORY REGULATION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WELLINGTON. Thursday. An amendment to the regulations governing the carriage of pigs is gazetted, whereby the Railway Department may decline to extend the benefit of the reduced rate to consignments of pigs consigned to any person or firm utilising other means of transport than the railway for the carriage of bacon, hams and other products manufactured from such pigs when the railway is available for these goods.
