The thrco attempts to wreck the limited express in the vicinity of Falmerston North last March and April are recalled by a mysterious incident that occurred about 7.30 o'clock last evening. Two yonng men were interrupted in an apparent attempt to loosen a rail on the line near the Awapuni siding about three miles from Palmerston North. A settler who arrived at the crossing had his suspicions aroused when the two men dashed away on -bicycles which one had been holding. They went in tho direction of Longbnrn. The railway authorities were warned and instituted an inspection. It was found that pins attached to fishplates had been bent and some had been partly drawn. A fast train from Wellington was held up at Longburn until the line was made safe, and it reached Palmerston North an hour and three-quarters late.
