OBJECTION TO BRIDGE.

STRUCTURE OVER AVON. COURT ACTION PENDING. [by telegraph.—Own correspondent.] CHRISTCMURCH. Saturday. Tho consent of the. Attorney-General has been received to an action being brought in his name to restrain the New Brighton Council from proceeding with the construction of a low concrete bridge across the Avon at New Brighton. A statement of claim has been filed in the Supreme Court by the solicitor for the objectors, Mr. A. F. Wright. The evidence of pioneers is being tabulated, and many important facts in connection with the Avon as a waterway are being recorded. The case will be heard in the Supreme Court, and promises to be of great interest. • The costs ate being publicly subscribed. Opponents of the low level bridge contend that, it will seriously interfere with the passage of the larger type of boats up the river from the estuary.
