EDUCATION SYSTEM.
NEW ASSISTANT-DIRECTOR. MR. T. B. STRONG APPOINTED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Saturday. The appointment was announced to-day of Mr. T. B. Strong, chief inspector of schools, to the position of assistantdirector of education. Born in London, Mr. Strong came to New Zealand with his parents as a child r.nd he was educated at Waimate District High School and Otago University. After 15 years' experience as a school teacher in tho Canterbury, Hawke's Bay and Wanganui education districts, Mr. Strong, at the age of 33, was appointed an inspector of schools under the Wanganui Education Board. He has had experience in secondary and technical work as well as primary education. In 1916 ho was appointed senior inspector in the Wanganui education district, and in 1920 chief inspector of schools. He will take over his new duties forthwith. Dr. E. Marsden, Secretary of the Department. of Scientific and Industrial Research, was the previous assistantdirector of education.
