FORTY-FOUR HOURS WEEK. THE EFFECT IN AUSTRALIA. Auntralian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Rood. 11.5 u.m.) SYDNEY. Oct. 7. In his ovidence at the inquiry concerning the 44-hours working week, which is being conducted by the Federal Arbitration Court, the Chief Railway Commissioner said the cost of the 44-hours week to the Railways Department this year would be £557,000.
