QUINNAT SALMON SEASON.
CATCHING FISH FOR SALE. THE CONDITIONS AND FEES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. Conditions and restrictions in connection with the taking of quinnat salmon for sale were gazetted this evening. Salmon may bo taken for sale by duly authorised persons froin January 1 to May 15 in each year, and in the case of applications for netting licences preference is to be given to bona fide wholetime professional fishermen. The waters where nets or traps may be used are several rivers in the South Island. Fees are prescribed as follow: A licence to take salmon with nets or traps, £5; a licence to take salmon with rod and line, £2; a licence for licensed fishermen to take salmon at sea, and a licence to take salmon with rod and line by the holder of a licence to take trout, £1 each.
