HOBSON'S GRAVE.
Sir, —Your correspondent in Wednesday's issue thinks it would bo out of place to put a fitting monument over the grave of Governor liobson in Symonds Street Cepieterv. He thinks it would be no sacrilege to remove the remains from this sacred spot, where they have reposed in peace for 84 years and where loving hands laid them. There could be no more fitting placo for a monument than the place where he lies, where thousands pass by daily. History tells that he chose the sloping side of the glorious Waitemata Harbour as the site for a city beautiful, and his decision has been most gratifying. Surely in consideration of this he is entitled to hold in perpetuity that little plot (Bft. square) where he has been :n possession so long. A monument 20ft. high will be very attractive to passers-by. With the name " Hobsori " in bold letters it will be an inspiration to the coming generations. Better Late Than Never.
