MERCANTILE MARINE CLUB.
A permanent commit ten for the newlyformed Mercantile Marine Officers' Social Club was elector) nt a special meeting yesterday. Arrangements were made for furnishing the clubrooms in Quay Buildings, and it was expected the club would lie ablo to open officially within a few weeks. The elect ion of officers resulted: President, Captain W. Ross: vice-presi-dents, Mr. C. H. T. Palmer (Lieut.-Cnm-mander R.N.V.R.), Mr. R. E. Smith; committee, Captain E. Dorling, Captain M. Pierotti, Captain C. Plunkett, Captain J. 11. Carter (Lieut.-Commander R.N.R., D.R-C.), Captain W. OsborneWhite, Mr. F. Shirley, Mr. M. Patterson, Mr. C. Mitchell, Mr. ,T. Monaghan, Mr. R. P. Niabet (Lieutenant-Commander R.N.V.R.. D.S.C. legal adviser, Mr. Mowl.y.
