AUCKLAND OFFICER RETIRES.
TWENTY-SIX YEARS' SERVICE.
After 26 years' service with the Government Valuation Deportment, Mr. H. J. C.- Coutts, officer in' charge .of the de- t
partrneht at Auckland, retired on superannuation yesterday.
In recognition of his services the Auckland office staff and the district valuers presented him' with an armchair and a silver tea-service. Mr. J. B. Wallis, of the field staff, and Messrs W. Lovcll, C. Oakley, Platts and M. John, of tho office staff,- commented upon Mr. Coutts* excellent handling of the various branches of the work. /
Entering the department at the age of 39, Mr. Coutts was first stationed at Hawera as district, valuer und later he was at Nelson, Hawke's Bay and Gisborne. He then became vainer in tho King Country and on his transfer to Auckland he was appointed officer in charge of the Auckland department, which position he has occupied for seven years.
