BUILDING AT TAMAKI.
FIGURES FOR SIX MONTHS.
BETTER CLASS OF HOUSES
A marked increase in the number of building permits issued during the six months ended yesterday, was shown in a report to the Tamaki Road Board last evening. The total value for tho past six months was against £26,903 for the corresponding period of last year, an increase of almost 50 per cent. The total includes 33 permits for the erection of dwellings, valued at £36,978. The number was the same a year ago, but the value then was only £25.389. This is the most striking feature of the return, that while tijere is no increase in the number of projected new dwellings their value has increased from an average of £769 to an average of £ll2O. Most of the new dwellings are to be erected in Mission Bay or St. Heliers. Six are estimated to cost under £500; four between £SOO and £750; 13 between £7so' and £1000; 5 between £IOOO and £1500,; 4 between £2OOO and £3000; and one, £6OOO. The board is particularly gratified at the increasing number of substantial homes being greeted in the district, considering tho fact indicative of tho higher estimation in which tho suburb is held for residential purposes. The detailed figures for the two sixmonthly period ended September 30 are as follow: — 1926. 1925. Increase.
