ELECTRICAL MATERIAL.
CITY COUNCIL PURCHASES.
IMPROVEMENT' IN THE METHOD
An improvement is to be made in the Auckland City Council's method of purchasing electrical material for wiring work and repairs in connection .with its various buildings and miscellaneous property. At present fittings, lamps, and so on, are purchased as required. In a report to the council last .evening the stores purchasing officer, Mr. C. M. Black, said the system was not proving either very satisfactory or economical in operation, chiefly through the lack of a suitable store to hold stocks. Small jobs were often delayed through having to purchaso tho material as required, while trade discounts were not allowed on such purchases. Mr. Black's suggestion was that a store should be established in tho Town Hall, whore a stock of about £250 worth of material could be carried and replenished as required. This plan way approved.
