THE ARAPUNI WORKS.
MORE MACHINERY ARRIVES. Tho first of three turbine valves to be used in the large power house at Arapuni arrived at Auckland from England by the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Opawa yesterday morning. The valve is valued at over £6OOO and weighs about 30 tons. It is in eight castings, the heaviest being nine tons. The castings are to be lifted out of the Opawa by the Harbour Board's floating crane, which will transfer them to railway trucks, which will transport them to Arapuni. Besides two more large valves which are expected in New Zealand shortly, heavy machinery to arrive for the power house consists of three turbines, two generators and six transformers. One generator has already arrived.
