AUSTRALIAN CONFERENCE. DEPARTURE FROM VANCOUVER. A. and N.Z. VANCOUVER. Aug. 25. The delegates to the Empire Parliamentary Association's conference ,in Australia sailed at noon to-day for Sydney by the Aorangi. The party includes the Marquess of Salisbury, chairman, Mr. Arthur Henderson, vice-chairman, Sir Howard D'Egville, founder of the organisation and its present secretary, Mr. J. Lan Macpherson, .Sir' Evelyn Cecil, Sir Frank Nelson and Sir Henry Cowan. There are 20 delegates, including English, Irish, Scottish, South African and Canadian M.P.'s. Mr. Osmond Esmonde, the Irish Parliamentarian, is conspicuous among the younger delegates owing to his former deportation from Australia and his arrest at Vancouver in the time of the war. Mr. Henderson, in an interview prior to the sailing of the Aorangi. said: We propose to consider thoroughly the question of the scientific redistribution of the population of the Empire and to formulate a policy to stimulate legislative action. Sir Howard D'Egville said : The association will present to the Canberra Parliament a Speaker's chair subscribed for by British Parliamentarians. It was made partly with oak taken from Nelson's old flagship.
