LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURE. CANTERBURY V. AUCKLAND. NORTHERN UNION CUP MATCH. What promises to be one of the most interesting Northern Union Cup matches will be played at. Carlaw Park to-morrow afternoon between Canterbury and Auckland. The visitors quite recently won a fine game against Otago and gave the impression of being a strong combination. Although a number of Canterbury players are absent with the New Zealand team, there is still a strong attacking force available, including several promising juniors. The Auckland League possesses an array of fine young players, whose form is of a high standard. In fact, it is a hard task j to secure a place in the Auckland repre- I sentative thirteen. The 3G members of the Huntly F'ootball Club who changed over from the League code to Rugby at the beginning of the present season as a sign of dissatisfaction were reinstated on their own application af last evening's meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Rugby League. Mr. J Carlaw presided. The council accepted as a Northern Union Challenge Cup ipatch the contest, between Canterbury and Auckland at Carlaw Park to-morrow. Mr. R. T. Hill, of SoOth Auckland, was appointed referee and Messrs B Emerali and A. Smith linesmen.
