CIVIC LEAGUE.
The Civic League's meeting held in the Cabin tearooms was well attended. Mrs. Axford gave an interesting talk 011 Esperanto, the so-called "second language of the world." A book issued by the League of Nations in reference to this language stated that esperanto would greatly help toward world peace. With the marvellous progress in transit and wireless a universal language will become necessary, as in the future language will be the only barrier to commerce. Esperanto was exceptionally easy to learn, in fact it could be mastered in a few months, whereas it would take years to learn another language. In a great many schools in Central Europe, Asia, United States and England esperanto was already being taught with marked success.
