SUCCESSFUL BALL.

GRAMMAR SCHOOL EX-PUPILS

The annnal ball of the Grammar School Old Boys and ■ Old Girls' Associations, held in the Auckland Grammar School last evening, passed off most successfully. Tho largo assembly hall presented a brilliant scene with its gay decorations and over 400 guests danced to excellent music from Birtley's orchestra. Blue and gold streamers, tho colours of the schools, formed a canopy overhead, from the centre of which blue and gold balloons wore released during one ot the dances. The dais, which was arranged as a lounge, was decked with palms and pot plants and bowls of daffodils. The various class-rooms had been converted into sitting-out rooms and card-rooms, and in others supper was served, tho tables being decorated with daffodils and violets and blue and gold streamers. Among those present were Mrs, T. Macky, president of the Old Girl's Association, wearing a frock of black marocain embroidered in beads; Mrs. E. Roberton, black souple satin; Mrs. J. Drummond, kingfisher blue and silver brocade; Mrs. Flummer, black panne velvet with panel of silver tissue embroidered in blue and rose; Mrs. Mitchell, green shot taffeta; Mrs. W. H.
