JAVA MURDER CASE.

CONFESSION BY NATIVES. SLEEPING VICTIM STABBED. (Received 11.30 p.m.) Renter. BATAVIA. Aug. 12. Two natives named Eatjim and Ruben Rachmen, who were charged with the murder of Mrs. Mac Fie, of Sydney, at Weltevreden, have confessed that they committed the crime with the object of robbery. The natives say they stabbed Mrs. Mac Fie while she was asleep. Mrs. Mac Fie, who was the wife of the Consul for Spain, Mr. H. C. Mac Fie, of Sydney, arrived at Weltevreden on September 13 last year and went to stay at a village hotel in Garoet, a _ small health, resort. She had dinner .. in the hotel that evening, after which nothing was seen of her. . The hotel manager on the following afternoon knocked at tho door of Mrs. MacFie's room. He received no answer. On forcing an entry to the room the manager fouud the body of Mrs. Mac Fie in bed with severe wounds in the throat and arms. A robbery theory he considered untenable, because a wristlet watch and a purse containing money remained untouched, although a pair of ear-rings and a small souvenir basket were. missing. A watchman stated that he saw a light in the deceased's room at 3 a.m. The door was closed, but at "6 a.m. the door was open and the room was dark. ,
