CHAMBER OF OQMMERCE. ~ [BY TELEGRAPH. —'OWN COERESPONTTENT, ] • PUKEKOHE. Thursday. The annual meeting of the Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce was held this evenng. Tha president, Mr. H. H. Pattle, reported that the chamber bad commenced the year with a good membership and the number had increased to 79. The work accomplished by the chamber during the past year had conferred distinct advantages on the district. A reduction in the railway freight on potatoes had been obtained, effecting a saving of several thousands of pounds. A number of improvements in the railway, post and telegraph services had also.been secured. The chamber had in hand the preparation of a booklet to advertise the Franklin district with the object of promoting closer settlement. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £2l. L'he following officers were elected: — President, Mr. F. A. Hosking; vice-presi-dent, Mr. H. Curd; secretary and treasurer, Mr. S, P. Day; executive, Messrs. Pattle, 0. Heerdegtyi, H. Burrows, C. Cooper, E. G. Foster and J. W. Sumner; auditor, Mr. M. S. Campbell.
