SIR JAMES ALLEN.
LONDON STAFF'S FAREWELL. EARLY RETURN TO DOMINION. A. and N.Z. LONDON. July 29. The retiring High Commissioner for New Zealand, Sir James Allen, will sail for Montreal on August 6, and join the Aorangi for Auckland on August 25. Lady Allen and their family will follow at a later date Sir James, his wife and family, were present at a farewell gathering at the High Commissioner's office. The official secretary, Mr. Alexander Crabb, on behalf of the staff, presented to Sir James a case of ivorv-backed hair and clothes brushes. Mr. Crabb expressed the opinion that Sir James had done his most valuable public work in London. He said he had enhanced the value of the High Commissionership. Sir James feelingly replied. He paid a tribute to the loyal and efficient service of the staff.
