There has been very little doing at Alexandra Park lately, and matters ate likely to remain quiet for some weeks yet. Many horses have been resting, but a good number of them will probably rejoin the active brigade next month. G. Phipps has been educating a couple of rising two-year-olds. One is a colt by Nelson Derby from Joy D, and the other a gelding by Adonis from Lou Dillon. Both youngsters are good sorts, and have taken kindly to the pacing gait. They are to be eased up for a few months before doing any further training.

The pacer Barney Thorpe is now being trained* by H. Kiimemont. He has been pacing evenly in his work, and is on the improve. Barney Thorpe is a grey gelding by Our Thorpe from Dorothy Dimple, so that he is bred well enough to be at least useful.

It was anticipated that a number of Auckland horses would be competing at Addington next month, but the indicat'.ons are that there will be very few representatives from this province.

The death occurred at Christcliurch on Friday of W. Bryce, a brother of the wellknown reinsman J. Bryce.
