FIGHTING IN SYRIA.
DRUSES REPEL FRENCH.
RETREAT TO DAMASCUS. Sun-Times. • LONDON. July 25. The Cairo correspondent of the Daily News reports that the Druses repulsed a French attack on their stronghold at Ghouta, in Syria. The French were compelled to retreat to E^mascus. The Damascus correspondent of the Times says the Druses lost 100 killed and 300 prisoners, and the French (including Circassian and Armenian auxiliaries) lost 49 killed and 97 wounded. The dead included the brilliant Colonel Ving. Two airmen were forced to land and were burned with theii; machines after having made an heroic stand with a rifle and a revolver.
