TAURANGA AFFAIRS.
PUBLIC TELEPHONE OFFICE. INSTALLATION AUTHORISED. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TAURANGA. Sunday. The installation of a coin-in-the-slot public telephone office in Tanranga is to be effected, according to a letter received by Mr, C. E. Macmilian, M.P., from the Hon. G. J. Anderson, on behalf of the Postmaster-General. Under the direction of the St. John Ambulance Society the school children of Tauranga raised the money necessary to provide a cot for the Tauranga Hospital. The appeal met with such generous response that more than enough was subscribed. Gifts to sick children have been made from the surplus. The Tauranga Beautifying and Horticultural Society will hold its Spring Show on September 7. The planting of various areas within the borough with ornamental and native trees is receiving the attention of the society.
