STOCK WRONGLY SOLD.
FARMER PLEADS GUILTY. Three charges of selling stock which was secured by a bill of sale to the Crown were admitted by George Geddes 'Gorrie (Mr. Moody) in the Police Court J'ester fay, before Mr. J. W. Poynton, 6.M. Hught Donald McKenzie, farmer of Waitenui, said he attended a sale on January 23. at which accused's sheep Were sold with the exception of about 30, iwhich were exchanged with witness for cattle. Laurence Paton, farmer, of Tatumoe, Paid he purchased 50 iambs from accused in December, 1921, and took delivery of £4 at 10s a head. Henry Goodwin Kijigsdown Adarnson, clerk in the Crown Lands Department, toid £282 15s ICd was advanced 'to accused in July, 1914, for the purchase of 230 sheep and 5 lambs. A bill of sale, produced, was taken as security. The property was sold in .July, 1925, and l>ought in by the Crown as mortgagee. 1 1 6 stock availa!3lc w as realised oil but there was a deficiency of £4OO. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
