LARGE RAILWAY INCREASE. HEAVY BOOKINGS CONTINUE. Cojnplete returns • for • the four weeks ended . January 2 show an all-round increase, in railway .passenger traffic at Auckland compared with the holiday season of last year. Tickets issued for all stations totalled 49,259, an increr.se of 4248, and reserved seats booked totalled 14,474, an increase of approximately '5214; Tho number of, outward;, luggage checks issued was 9777, an increase of 2036." There was an increase of 3600 - in- left ■ luggage tickets, which numbered 15,000. " Bookings still show no sign of falling off... On Thursday 500 seats were reserved, and yesterday the total' was 700. Outward-bound expresses are all extremely well patronised. It was found necessary to run three trains to Wellington last evening, to accommodate the 9(X) .travel-.' lers. Although the daylight expresses arriving at Auckland are not as heavy as they were- some--.days' 1 ago, -tho outward trains are .carrying capacity loads. Bookings, for this morning's train total . 263, and every coach will be full. "®"
