DECLINE IN MATRIMONY.
STATISTICS FOR MCW Y7TFIK. AN INCREASE IN DIVORCES. Although' America is enormously prosperous, New York is suffering from a slump in matrimony much in the same way as is London, and, in fact, the whole country, according to the Registrar-Gen-eral's returns The New York Slate Department of Health has just reported that there were 5075 fewer marriages in New Yqrk State in 1024 than in 1923, and, while Greater New York contains the bulk of the population, this decline is . spread over the whole State. In the same period divorces increased by 350. There were for the calendar year 1924 a total of 106,312 marriages performed and 4522 divorces granted. In 1523 the figures were 111,357 marriages and 4272 divorces.
