CHILDREN'S FATAL FIND. BENZINE BY THE ROADSIDE. PUT ON A FIRE TO BOIL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] TE KUITI. Thursday. The police have been notified of an accident by which a Maori child met her death, while two others were burned, one seriously. The three children v/ere playing on the road at Mahoenui, 30 miles from To Kuiti, and found a tin containing 2in. of benzine. Thinking it was water they placed it on the fire to boil, and a violent explosion occurred. One child, aged 10, sustained frightful injuries and died next day. Another was brought into the Te Kuiti hospital yesterday in a serious condition, whilo the third is making a good recovery. At an inquest yesterday the coroner brought in a verdict of accidental death, adding a rider that motorists should exercise more care in leaving ber zine about.
