BRIGHT PRIVATE DANCE.

A most enjoyable New Year's Eve danco was given by Mr. and Mrs. M. Louisson at Ngatira, ' Remuerai. A quantity of lovely flowers decorated the rooms and in the dining room the supper table was charmingly arranged with delicately shaded carnations and maiden-hair fern under a .great golden light. The wide verandah, which had been covered with awning, made a delightful ball-room, and various sitting rooms were used by the guests between the dances. Bridge tables were also arranged in the - lounge upstairs. The large number of young people present danced to the strains of an excellent Hawaiian band, and at 12 o'clock when Auld Lang Syne was played, the guests drank the toast of the New Year amid much festivity. Mrs. Louisson received her guests wearing a frock of cyclamen and' mauve georgette with overdress of gold lace. Miss Louisson wore a frock of shell pink georgette over cream lace, and carried a large white ostrich feather fan. Mrs. J. Murphy wore a frock of shrimp pink satin beaufe witli diamante ornaments; Mrs. Colbeck, mulberry and embossed georgette, Mrs. Waller, frock of ficelle tinted lace worked in rose medallions and swathing of blue aDd bronze with loose ends round the hips; Mrs. Burns, black marocain embroidered in petunia shaded silk; Mrs. E. Russell, draped frock of orchid sarin beauts; Mrs. Rogers, black embroidered! crepe de chine; Mrs. Robertson, black; marocain; Mrs. V, Riddiford, apricot georgette fringed with silver beads; Mrs. Noel Adams, black romaine with skirt heavily embroidered in jet beads; Mirs. M. Reed, frock of blue and silver brocaded lame; Mrs. Sitwell, delphinium blue georgette embroidered in dark blue silk and silver; Mrs. Rhind, henna and gold brocade; Mrs.' O'Rorke, white georgette with hem of white georgette flowers; Mrs. Hewitt, cherry coloured georgette embroidered in crys£al beads. •>Mjss Colbeck wore pastel pink georgette over lace; Miss Waller, frock of cyclamen shaded georgette with petalled skirt; Miss Rogeirs, shell pink marocain with narrow strands of trimming embroidered in tiny blue flowers; Miss Burns, hyacinth blue romaine embroidered in silver beads; Miss A. Burns, primrose georgette shaded to orange with silver bead' embroidery ; Miss Vaile, vellum tinted georgette 'with narrow edging of ostrich feather; Miss R. Vaile, while ninon over' silver lame; Miss Knight, scarlet georgette beaded in silver; Miss Kissling, orchid charmeuse sashed in nattier blue; Miss;. Nolan, frock of cerise taffeta with velvet motifs; Miss Lloyd, rose pink lace over georgette; Miss Austin, azalea satin brocaded in silver with georgette godets; Miss Robertson, frock of gold lace caught at the hip with large pink rose; Miss Ferguson, blue georgette embroidered in silver; Miss Norton, kingfisher blue and silver brocade; Miss Lawford, rose pink georgette and silver lace; Miss Stewart, white georgette embroidered in silver beads; Miss Rutherford, jade green georgette and green and silver brocade; Miss Egerton, rose georgette and silver tissue.
