BRIGHT PRIVATE DANCE.

A most enjoyable New Year's Eve danco was given by Mr. and Mrs. M. Louisson at Ngatira, ' Remuerai. A quantity of lovely flowers decorated the rooms and in the dining room the supper table was charmingly arranged with delicately shaded carnations and maiden-hair fern under a .great golden light. The wide verandah, which had been covered with awning, made a delightful ball-room, and various sitting rooms were used by the guests between the dances. Bridge tables were also arranged in the - lounge upstairs. The large number of young people present danced to the strains of an excellent Hawaiian band, and at 12 o'clock when Auld Lang Syne was played, the guests drank the toast of the New Year amid much festivity. Mrs. Louisson received her guests wearing a frock of cyclamen and' mauve georgette with overdress of gold lace. Miss Louisson wore a frock of shell pink georgette over cream lace, and carried a large white ostrich feather fan. Mrs. J. M.
