AUCKLAND RACES.

FROCKS AT ELLF.RSLIE, The Auckland Racing Club s Summer Meeting was continued at Ellerslie yesterday, when the running of the Great Northern Derby attracted a large number of enthusiasts. The weather was showery and , the {rocking was'sombre comparison with the two previous days. A few light frocks were worn, but as the wind was keen, wraps and coats were much in demand. The popularity .of. the full length coat remains unrivalled and in many instances these were of black satin or velour with collar and cuffs of | a light coloured fur. ] Among those present were: Lady Lock- j hart wearing a frock of black embroidered : marocain and a black and gold hat; Lady | Marjorie Dalrymple, black crepe de chine s with touches of white and a black j hat; Miss Orr-Ewing, grey crepe de j chine frock and black hat with lace wings and black satin wrap; Sirs. Beale, was in a black ottoman and silk coat with collar and cuffs of light fur and a black satin hat with cluster of flowers at the side; Mrs. J. G. Coates, wore a black repp silk coat with vest ;ind collar of gold lame and a black hat; Mrs. Grant, black channeuse frock «,nd black hat with drooping feathers; Mr!;. Graham, black armure with black hat; Mrs. V. Riddiford, black frock and hat s>nd wine coloured coat trimmed with fur; Mrs. Stephen Allen black marocain with scarlet facings and black hat; Mrs. Hewitt, black silk coat with collar and cuffs of white fur and black hat; Mrs. Leatham, beige frock and beige toned hat; Mrs. J. R.
