STATEMENTS BY DEBTORS.
ONE PAYING HALF-WAGES.
Mention of the fact that he had to pay £8 10s a month rent was made by a bankrupt accountant at a meeting of creditors yesterday. He stated his present salary was £350 a year. Mr. West, for the chief creditor: You will have to find somewhere else to live. Bankrupt: What on earth can you get under that? Mr. West: You will have to take rooms, Mr. 'Hogben, for bankrupt: That will be just as expensive. A man who said he was earning £5 a week and paid £2 5s a week for rent figured as defendant in a judgment summons case in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. The Magistrate, Mr. Cutten: You pay £2 ss. Have you got a palace ? The Debtor: No, it is really quite a small place.
