MT. EDEN HOUSE BURNED.
."- ♦ " family absent at time. LATE CALL TO BRIGADE. There was a somewhat serious outbreak of fire in a house in Kensington ; Avenue, owned and occupied by Mr. J. I A. Henderson, at half-past- two yesterday j afternoon. It is stated that the Mount I Eden Fire Brigade did not receive a call ' until a quarter of an hocr after the ooti break, owing to the family being absent I from the house at the time. The fire had a strong hold when the brigade arrived. The house was badly damaged, but two rooms were partially saved. It is | thought the %e originated from a tin j of hot ashes left outside the door. The i building' and furniture were. insnred for | £6OO and £250 respectively in the South I British Insurance Company. =========
