SITE FOR RESERVOIR.
THE TAKAPUNA PURCHASE. GOVERNMENT ACTION DECLINED. The purchase by the previous Borough Council of a site on the summit cf Crown Hill for reservoir purposes has been a burning question at Takapuna for some time, and recently the present council wrote to the Crown Law Department asking that the Attorney-General should take action in the direction of bringing about a review of the purchase transaction. A reply by the Solicitor-General was submitted to the meeting of the council last evening. Its effect was an intimation that the matters submitted to the department by the council did not provide sufficient ground for institution of an action on its own initiative, although it might be that in such a case the Borough Council could institute an action in its own name. The Solicitor-General added that it would be necessary for the council to consult, its, own legal advisers whether the Attorney-General's consent was necessary, and as to the steps required to obtain this consent m due form. Consideration of the letter was deferred until the council's next meeting.
