LITTLE BOY MISSING.
WANDERS INTO THE BUSH. VAIN QUEST BY FATHER. ANXIETY AS TO SAFETY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORHESPON9E.VI. ] OAMART). Monday. Considerable anxiety is being felt for the seven-year-old son of Mr, Stanley Morrison, of Waimotu, near Herbert., wbo has been missing in the hills since aboefc noon yesterday. Father and son drove into the hills in the morning. On reaching a point where further progress wiiii the trap was impossible the father told his eon to remain by the vehicle for a short time while he went on a little further. The father was siway for less than half an hour but there was no sign of his son on his return. After searching without success for about two hoars in the hills Mr. Morrison thought that the boy might have wandered down on to the flat and accordingly descended. He was still unable to find his son and invoked the assistance of neighbours. A search party was oat all yesterday afternoon and evening scouring the'country but without result. Front an early hour this morning several members of the police force searched the vicinity for miles. The weather lias been very rough, heavy rain falling, but it cleared to-day. It is thought that the boy is in dense bush in the vicinity s.ncl this is being thoroughly combed. Efforts are being made to get a contingent of lads from the Waitaki Boys' High School to assist iri the search tomorrow. ABSENCE FROM HOME. A TRAMWAY CONDUCTOR. SEARCH PROVES FRUITLESS. The continued absence from bis home in Banfuily Avenue, Epsom, of Mr. Jamee Thompson, tramway conductor, is causing his relatives anxiety. Mr, Thompson returned home from the Epsom Depot early on Wednesday evening and shortly afterwards went to his room saying he was going to bed. However, lie was not in - the room an hour later and it was seen he had changed his uniform for an old gardening suit but had not taken money or effects. A search has been made but up to a late hour last evening no trace had been found. Mr. Thompson is described as being of medium build, about 45 years old and sft Bin. in height. He has blue eyes, fresh complexion, reddish hair turning grey and a red moustache. It, is thought he would be wearing an old dark grey suit, without collar or tie, a grey cap.
