An outbreak of fire in the commercial area of Bulls township yesterday morning resulted in three business places being cestroyed. The effective work of the bri-i gade, which operated chemical fize appliances, prevented the danger zone from extending. The fire originated in Mr. C. Bioughton's cabinetmaking premises and it had such a strong hold when discovered that nothing could be dons to save the building. There is no fire brigade in Bulls, but a bucket brigade was formed. The painter's shop of Mr. A. Green was nest destroyed, and then the adjoining premises used as sample rooms were consumed. In the meantime it was seen that a large two-itoreyed building formerly used as a boarding house fcftd shops was in jeopardy. Had the fire reached that building there would have been a danger of the whole business area being involved. Willing volunteers, however, were successful in saving it. Plate-glass windows on the opposite side of the street were cracked and broken by the heat. Mr. Brough ton's insurances were;— Premises, £400; stock and machinery, £275. Mr. Green did not have any insurance. Mr. Broughtoa's premises on the same site were destroyed by fire some 11 years ago.
