At the Amateur Athletic Council meeting it was stated that the Wellington centre was prepared to guarantee £IOO toward the tour of a team of American athletes. The chairman said the matter had been settled, as the council had decided to cancel negotiations for the tour in the meantime. A cablegram was received from Melbourne (Malvern Harriers) asking under what conditions would Rose visit Melbourne for a match with Hyde, White, and other champions. A reply has been sent stating that an endeavour is being made to match Rose with Nurmi, either by inducing Nurmi to visit New Zea land, or by sending Rose to Europe. In the circumstances it was not advisable to enter upon arrangements for any other tour. Otago made application for the 1926 championship meeting to be held in conjunction with the exhibition features. The letter stated that a conference of the centres at Wanganui had approved of the proposal that the championships be advertised in the exhibition programme. It was stated that it was premature to advertise the meeting as Auckland had a claim to it, but might forego its claim in favour of Dunedin on account of the exhibition. It was decided to reply that no allocation of the championships could be made until the annual meeting, and that Auckland had an application in.
