In the cricket match between Yorkshire and the Rest of England the latter team is in a very Btrong position. Hobbs made 30 in the second innings of the Rest, reaching 3000 runs in one season for the first time in his career. The Rest batted first and scored 430. Jupp making 61 not out and Fender 56. For Yorkshire Macauley took seven wickets for 135. Yorkshire's, first innings produced 313, Sutcliffe contributing 124. Kilner 61 not but and Leyland 40. Parker took three wickets for 86, Fender two for 54, Jupp two for 58, Tate two for 69 and "Woolley one for 1. The Rest declared their second innings closed at 252 for four wickets.
