The Commonwealth Shipping Line is again involved in trouble with the Seamen's Union, On the voyage from London of tho Jorvis Bay several of tho hauds refused to carry out certain duties and wcro logged. Tho Seamen's Union demanded that tho logging be cancelled, but the management, of tho line refusod. When tho crew of tho vessel were asked to renew their articles 26 men refused to sign on again. A call at tho shipping master's office for men to tako their places was unsuccessful. Efforts aro being niado to arrange for a conference between tho management and the union.
When all tho shipping services aro normal again it is estimated that thero will bo over 1000 seamen unemployed iu Sydney. This is duo to the salo of a number of the Commonwealth Line's vessels and to tho curtailment of tho local services.
