COALMINES DISPUTE.

SERIOUS POSSIBILITIES, STRONG FEELING AT PELAW. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 12.55 a.m.) SYDNEY. Aug. 11. A board of miners' delegates is sitting at Newcastle to consider the serious position which has arisen as a result of the refusal of the Pelaw miners to work air turbine machines unless tho rates and the conditions concerning tho working of tho machines are first determined by tho coal tribunal. Tho latter has refused to hear the claims unless the machines are worked. The men in refusing this ignored tho advice of tho leaders of tho Miners' Federation.

If tho delegates 1 board fails to arrive at a solution of tho trouble, and if tho men persist in their attitude, it is considered that a general mining upheaval may result. Feeling in tho district is very strong and many miners' lodges are urging the calling of aggregate meetings to determine what action shall bo taken.
