STUDENTS' TOURNEY.

TRASMING COLLEGE EVENTS. AUCKLAND WINS MILNES BOWL. ALL BRANCHES OF ATHLETICS. The annual tournament between tho Auckland and Wellington Training Colleges, which was commenced on Monday, was continued yesterday. Conditions for tho athletes were unfavournble, the track in places being very muddy. Under tho circumstances, some remarkably fine performances were put up. Auckland won by 19J, points to 9J. Results.ore as follow:

High Jump.—Sutherland (A), 1; McLeod (A), Finlayson (A), dead heat, 2. Height, sft. lin.

880 Yards.—Sutherland (A), 1; Tillott (W), 2, Time, 2m 9 3-ss. The Wellington man led to !he straight but Sutherland came up strongly and won comfortablv.

100 Yards.—Freeman (A), 1; Brown (W), 2. Time, 10 2-ss. Mile Walk.—Jackson (W), 1; Caislcy (A), 2. Time, 7m 30 1-Ss. Jackson led throughout. Long Jump.—Thompson (A), 1; Smith (W). 2. Distance. 19ft. 6in 440 Yards.—Finlayson (A), 1: Sutherland (A), 2. Time, 565. Finlayson managed to stave otf a strong challenge from Sutherland, who finished fast. 120 Yds. Hurdles. —Finlayson (A), 1; Freeman (A), Vercoe (W), doad heat, 2. Time, 17 2-ss. Ono Mile.—Smith (W), 1; McDermott (A), 2. Time, 4m 55 l-ss. This was tho best race of the day. McDermott took charge in the last lap but, casing up after passing Smith, was beaten on tho tapo after a very fast finish.

220 Yards.—Brown (W), 1; Freeman (A), 2. Time, 245. Relay Race.—Auckland, X. Time, 4m Is. Won by 10 yards. Lawn Tennis Eesults, The tennis tournament' was favoured with good weather. A fairly high standard was sot, the ladies' matches being particularly good. Auckland wen by 10 points to 6. scoring vic'ories in all the combined matches. Results are as follows, Auckland names being given first in each case: Ladies' Singles.—Misrr Biggs beat Miss Johnson, 9—4; Miss McDougal! lost to Miss Clougher, 9—2; Miss Sharp beat Miss Duncan, 9—4; Miss Shand beat Miss As!> croft, 10-8. Men's Singles.—Pattison lost to Ferkiris, 6—2, 6—3; Grant beat Aim, 6—2, 8 -6; Robins lost to Sykes, 6—o, 6—2; Danneford beat Smith, 6—2, 4—6, 6 —3. Lad'os* Doubles. —Misses Biggs and McDougall beat Misses Johnston and Clougher, 6—2, 6—2; Misses Shand and Sharp lost to Misses Duncan and Ashcroft, 6—3, 6—2. Men's Doubles. —Pattison and Grant lost, In For kins and Aim, 6-—3, 6—2; Danneford and Pohins lost to Sykes and Smith, B—6, I—6, G—l.

Combined Doubles.—Miss Biggs and Pattison beat Miss Johnston and Ferkins, 6—4, 6—l; Miss Sharp and Grant beat Miss Clougher and Aim, 6—l, 6—4; Miss McDougall and Dnnneford beat Miss Duncan and Svkes, 4—6, 6—3, 6—3: Miss Shand and Robins beat Miss Ashcmft and Smith.

The Boxing Contests. Auckland won threo contest und Wellington one, while another was declared £ draw. Results:— Feather-weight.—Still (W.), Bst. l"31b. v. Joli (A.), Bst. 131b.—This was a good, spirited contest. Still was hitting cleaner and harder, and secured a popular win. Light-weight.—Burke (W.), 9st. 101b. v. H. Frank (A.), 9st. 91b.—Tin's was the best fight of the evening, both showing skill and gameness. Frank freed the fight and connected with good straight lefts to the head, while Burke, who was very fast on his feet, put up a good defence. Frank, who was the aggressor throughout, received tho verdict.

Middle-weight.—Smith (A.), list., v. Duff (W.), list. —This was a spectacular fight while it lasted. Both mixed it freely in the first round. In the second round Smith connected with both hands to the head and body. The referee stopped the fight, declaring Smith tho winner. Heavy-weight,—Pollard (A.), 12st., v. Robertson (W.), 12st.—The Aucklander opened with two good lefts to the face, Robertson showed no defence, and Pollard had him down three times within the first minuto. The referee declared in favour of Pollard.

Welter-weight.—Cooko (A.), lOst. 61b., v. Bardie (W.), 9st. 131b.—Neither forced the fight, which wa3 unexciting, and was declared a draw.

Swimming and Basketball. The swimming tournament was very closely contested, Auckland winning by 15 points to 13. Women's Events.—33 1-3 Yards: Miss Hogg (W.), 1; Miss Richardson (W.), 2. Time, 245. 66 2-3 Yards: Miss Hogg, 1; Miss Richardson, 2. Time, 59 3-ss. 66 2-3 Yards, breaststroke: Miss Stevens (W.), 3; Miss Waller (W.), 2. Timo, lm 30 2-ss. Diving: Miss North (W.), 1; Miss S.ansell (A.), 2. Relay Race: Wellington.

The basketball match resulted in an easy win for Auckland by 50 points to 13, the local team's play being superior in all departments.
