EMPIRE COMPETITION.
MOST PROGRESSIVE CITIES. POPULAR VOTE IN BRITAIN. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. (Reed. 6.5 p.m.) LONDON. May 30. Hundreds of thousands of people took part in a British Empire ballot in aid of charities. The competitors were asked to give a list of the 12 most progressive cities in the Empire. The winning result, according to the competitors' own votes, was:—London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Sydney, Montreal, Melbourne, Sheffield, Calcutta, Toronto and liombay.
